Korthi house kitchen

Details – Tickets are $100 each

Package includes an airline travel voucher worth up to $2,500 and the lucky winner will have access for 2 weeks to a beautiful house located in Korthi on Andros island to experience the history and culture of Greece. Exact time of trip in 2019 TBD. The house overlooks the Korthi Bay on the southeast side of the island and is accessible only on foot, about 100 meters from a parking area.  It sleeps 6, has a full kitchen and 2 baths, laundry, and wonderful sitting areas both indoors and out. There are gardens with fruit trees and springs that run year-round on the island.

Grias Pidima Beach

Korthi Ormos Cafe

You will be walking distance from the coast and seaside village of Korthi Ormos, about 2km, through beautiful paths that wind through the village and country side.  In and near Korthi Ormos are several swimming beaches, the most spectacular Grias Pidima, accessible on foot down a steep path.  There are nice restaurants and cafes on a cool-even-at-midday marble paved pedestrian area.  And for a real Greek dining experience there is also a restaurant on the main road, just down the hill from the house. If you’re there at 9pm you’re probably the first ones to arrive!  Korthi Ormos has lots to offer, a butcher, several bakeries, pharmacies, an atm/bank, hardware store, and food stores.  Much of the food sold in restaurants and local stores is grown on the island so if you like you can do your own cooking.

Korthi house garden

There are great hiking opportunities throughout the island.  Just nearby the house you have 100’s of kms of paths and small roads up into the mountains or down to the sea, through a volcanic landscape that has been terraced and walled over thousands of years of human activity.  Higher up the hills there are ancient abandoned villages, some with houses still owned and furnished, others just used for livestock.  Everywhere offers abundant history.

Also, on the island, accessible by car, are many other beautiful villages, museums, monasteries, castles, churches, light houses, windmills, sacred springs, shopping, and much more.  There are car rentals that can be arranged in the port village of Gavrio, about 1-hour drive from the house, or you can rent a car at the airport and drive the car onto the ferry.

Ferries need to be reserved online and tickets can be picked up at travel agent offices in the various ports. The ferries are very popular and will sell out entirely so book early.  The indoor “deluxe/business” seating is recommended.

Greece is known for very friendly, helpful people and usually someone can be found that speaks English even in small shops in a tiny town. Start you trip in Athens, visit Mykonos and Delos two stops away by ferry and don’t miss visiting Delphi. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people! A totally amazing life changing opportunity.
