Highlights
Movement for RidersThis week only - Movement for Riders meets Thursday (instead of Friday) Movement for Riders Taught by Tess Meyer Fridays 10:00am - 11:30am Ongoing through August 13 Single-class walk-in: 19.00 As riders, we want our horses to move with grace, power and suppleness, but often have trouble accessing these qualities in our own movement. We all develop unconscious patterns of holding and tightness that prohibit us from moving freely and efficiently, and those patterns greatly affect our riding. Over the course of the term we will seek a greater understanding of movement awareness, efficiency, and balance while learning how these elements apply to our riding practice. Building on basic anatomical principles, we will explore simple exercises that promote consciousness of habitual patterns, tensions, and holding in our bodies, and work towards a sustainable movement practice that you can take home. Tess Meyer graduated from Bennington College in 2008 with a BA in dance and visual art. Over the past five years she has danced with a variety of dancers and choreographers, and recently spent nine months living in New York City where she studied Klein/Mahler Technique and the Alexander Technique. Tess currently trains horses, sells books, makes sculptures, and curates the Dance Vanguard Series at Hubbard Hall.
