Hubbard Hall invites you and your students to a special student matinee performance of Dancing at Lughnasa on Wednesday, April 9, at 10:00 AM. Seating is limited, so we encourage you to reserve seats as soon as possible.

Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play, Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa is a deeply moving and beautifully written drama about five sisters living in rural Ireland in 1936. The play explores themes of family, tradition, societal expectations, and economic hardship, all while celebrating the fleeting moments of joy that sustain us. Told through the memories of Michael, the son of one of the sisters, the story offers students a compelling exploration of history, literature, and social change—perfect for classroom discussions.

This production also features a unique focus on disability representation and Irish heritage, themes particularly relevant to our local community. Hubbard Hall’s production is choreographed by long-time Irish step instructor Darcy May, and our community has a deep connection to Irish immigrant history through the workers of the Dunbarton Mill and local Irish dance traditions.
