Music from Salem’s Viola & Violin Seminar participants and faculty will perform a workshop concert.
Professionally-bound young artists share the fruits of their work on sonatas with piano, and other duos and trios, at the weeklong Music from Salem Viola and Violin Seminar at the Brown Farm, led by Music from Salem Artistic Director Lila Brown, violist,Sharan Leventhal, violinist, and Marc Ryser, pianist.
After a week of collaboration with piano on repertoire from all periods, students and faculty will perform selections from sonatas and chamber music with charming, mini get-to-know-you introductions about themselves and their pieces. This year‘s violin/viola seminar will feature selections from Brahms, Schubert, Janacek, Bridge, and our signature Handel sextet arrangement from The Queen of Sheba. We are also highlighting duets by the glorious baroque composer, Jean-Marie Leclair.
Music from Salem brings together musicians of international reputation to prepare and perform chamber music in the peace and beauty of rural Washington County, New York, and environs. Chamber music is classical music written for a small group of performers, and includes a range of styles, from the 18th century to today. Music from Salem also leads educational workshops and conducts violin, viola, and cello seminars for emerging young artists.
